Turning the world upside down for Jesus Christ, one life at a time is our purpose here at The Flipside. Upon reflection, it became clear that in order to fulfill this God-given vision there needed to be an individual responsibility to cultivate disciples of influence. We would need to engage in the practice of living out our faith along side of other people in our oikos, or circles of influence.

To cultivate something means to both prepare the ground and ultimately reap the harvest. Stained seeks to do just that, and then to take it one step further by giving it away to others, teaching them to do the same in their own lives…

Learning for the sake of personal growth is quite different from learning for the sake of sharing what was learned with another individual. If one is given directions to drive to a destination, they may follow the road signs and even memorize the landmarks along the way. However, if one is asked to tell someone else how to get to the same destination, he or she is required to listen very closely to the directions in order to be able to share them with someone else.

There is a Hebrew saying, “May you be covered in the dust of your Rabbi.” The idea behind Stained follows this thought process by inferring that one would not only be covered in the dust of Christ, but that they would also be stained-permanently marked by Jesus as they live out their faith in the surrounding communities.

Stained is a journey that will engage a person right where they are and help them to realize what the next step is in their faith. Stained is value driven, not programmatic. It uses three different settings to help the person identify and connect with life-changing values. These values are:

Inner Transformation – the pathway from anxiety to intimacy.
Embodied Apologetics – the pathway from hypocrisy to integrity

Radical Inclusivity – the pathway from isolation to love
.
Relevant Servanthood – the pathway from apathy to courage

.

Are you experiencing a life of anxiety and wondering if an intimate connection with your Creator can really be found? Do you often sense an inconsistency between what Christ-followers say and how they live? Are there parts of your life where you feel isolated and alone and question whether an “unconditional love” really exists? Do you see the needs of people around you and often feel powerless to engage these circumstances and meet those needs in practical ways?

When looking at these values, Stained doesn’t promise those who participate a complete transfomation from A to Z. It’s apparent that in different seasons of one’s life, people will find themselves readdressing these pathways (anxiety, hypocrisy, isolation, and apathy) at different times. Instead, Stained seeks to connect with the Christ-follower by helping them to realize what moving from A to B looks like when listening to the Holy Spirit. And so begins..a pursuit of lives turned upside down.
